Nine Composers Series | Inkermezzo
top of page

The Nine Composer Series is designed to promote diversity and representation in classical music.

The series first began in 2018 as a stand alone piece with Nine Composers (who all happen to be women). Attempting to furnish a new cello studio with motivational artwork, Megan created this piece with an expanding goal.

Throughout the drawing process, Megan often asked her social media audience to name the composers. She has also done this throughout her Bow Holds Series with great success - people naming the cellists, violinist, and violists by their severed hands with ease. But with the Nine Composers, no one has ever been able to name all nine despite seeing their complete faces.

The composers chosen include a mix of living and deceased composers, inspiring students, professionals, and music-lovers to celebrate the remarkable artistry of the forgotten communities of the past, and look forward to the future in classical music.

Each piece has a unique Spotify playlist featuring large catalogs of the composers featured.

All profits from the Black Composers are donated to the Sphinx Organization. All profits from the Latin American Composers are donated to SOLA.  are donated to the Sphinx Organization. Donation receipts upon request.
